Wireless Parking Guidance: Define the Connection First

Before asking whether a parking guidance system can be wireless, identify which connection must be wireless. Sensor communication, a controller’s network connection and remote access are different requirements and need separate confirmation.

Separate data connections from power

A request for wireless data does not by itself specify how equipment is powered. State the power arrangements and the communication path for each part of the planned system. Include any restriction on cabling or installation work.

Describe indoor and outdoor conditions

Document the parking layout, distances, obstructions and the locations where equipment can be installed. AKE’s guidance portfolio includes several sensor and camera categories; the right configuration should follow the site requirements rather than a blanket assumption that every category uses the same network arrangement.

Confirm the proposed connection and acceptance test

Ask the technical team to identify the equipment, connection method and test conditions for the proposal. Include the intended behaviour when connectivity is interrupted. Historical references to wireless options should not be taken as a guarantee that any existing model can be converted.

Questions and answers

Does wireless data mean no wiring is required?

Not necessarily. Power and data connections need to be specified separately for the selected equipment.

Can indoor and outdoor systems be assumed to use the same connection method?

No. The required communication arrangement should be checked against the site and the proposed system configuration.
