Parking-space occupancy detection and licence plate recognition measure different tasks. A meaningful parking-camera acceptance test defines each task separately, together with the site conditions, test samples and method used to calculate the result.
Define the task being measured
For occupancy, the question is whether the parking-space state is identified correctly. For plate recognition, the question concerns the vehicle’s plate information. A percentage quoted for one task should not be reused as evidence for the other.
Use the proposed camera and site conditions
AKE’s guidance family includes Parking Guidance Camera PVD 20, PVD 21 and PVD 30. A model name alone does not establish a universal accuracy result. Agree the placement, lighting conditions, required coverage and representative vehicles for the test.
Record the test method and exceptions
State the sample size, what counts as a correct result and how unreadable or missing plates will be handled. Review the result for the actual operating conditions rather than relying on a single historical marketing percentage. Keep the acceptance criteria with the project documentation.
Questions and answers
Is occupancy accuracy the same as licence plate recognition accuracy?
No. They describe different tasks and need separate definitions and acceptance checks.
How should parking-camera accuracy be tested?
Define the task, site conditions, sample size and what counts as a correct result. Test the proposed equipment under representative operating conditions and document any exceptions.
